5It is a lot of fun!
By C. bevilacqua
I did not use a manual pump as recommended on the box, and it inflated fine. My little three year old niece loves this pool. It is roomy. I even went in it with her. You can sit in the corners comfortably. The backrest is not exactly evenly aligned with the seats, but the overall comfort is fine. We have used this pool twice, so I cannot comment on durablity, but it seems strong and I have had good experiences with Intex pool toys.

5Short and sweet . . . .
By Lorrie B.
For a little pool, it's mighty and is also pleasant to look at. The description tells you that there are four seats in the corner for the moms to use while watching their toddlers and it's perfect. My grandbabies wanted to go into the pool the minute they saw it. It sold itself to their little toddler eyes. I feel that it's very safe because it's so shallow. I am not sorry I purchased this pool. Happy dippin'!
Buy those battery operated fish to run around the pool, they're a ton of fun.

1Not Much Summer Fun When It Doesn't Stay Inflated
By James M.
This pool had good (but few) reviews so I went ahead and took a chance on this. The pool has 2 outer layers to inflate. After inflating the first evening (I laid it on a tarp just to make sure we didn't get any punctures) and adding water, by the next morning the bottom layer was almost completely deflated. The top layer was also losing air. I drained the water and tried airing it up again - same results. Next I sprayed soapy water in attempt to find a hole. No success. Then took it over to my in-laws large pool and dunked it to see if we could find air bubbles. No.

So "Why not just return this defective product to Amazon?" you might wonder. Well, this pool was $40. To ship it back, I'd have to pay $19 in shipping (which is not reimbursed b/c it's Amazon's fault - the package was not damaged during shipping). Then - even if I returned it - Amazon won't exchange it and will only refund me UP TO 50%. You can do the the math from there.

IF - and that's a big IF - this pool wasn't a defective item, it would be a great pool. The inflated seats and back rests (which stayed very inflated of course) on each corner are pretty comfortable and it would work out great for my wife or I to sit out with the kids. But it IS a defective item and all I can say is that I won't be buying an inflatable pool on Amazon again. I'll pay a bit extra at my local store so I have the option of returning it if it's defective.

Update: I also contacted Intex directly. They cannot exchange the defective product (it seems this pool has been discontinued since it's hard to find just about anywhere to purchase online) and there is no service plan for it offered by Intex. They suggested I contact Amazon. So, there's $40 and a defective product in the trash. Buyer beware: You're gambling your money when you order this pool online.

5Bigger is definitely better on this pool!
By A Customer
We have had three of these INTEX Easy Set Up pools in the past five years. For safety reasons we decided to start with the small one and just last year our son was tall enough to move on to this great big wonder of a pool. We love it!!! It is true that it is not easy to set up but a nice BBQ and some pina coladas will surely bring in the help needed. All you really need is a little air pump to start the set up. It is heavy and it will not fill in a couple of hours so forget that; but after it is laid out you are all set...the pool appears the next morning, like magic! there are no complicated floor plans, no weird poles and there is just no way you can get it wrong. BUT, remember that you want to put the hoses away from the normal walking traffic path...it can be a serious safety issue with kids tripping or you might just mow the cord down while doing the grass. Keep this in mind if you decide to skip the set up video; most men don't "need to watch the video", HaHaHa! This pool is a really great investment. If you have a small yard, it is a keeper. You take the water out in the fall, leave it in place covered by a tarp and set up the trampoline right over it for fall fun. It is worth the heavy lifting and every penny.... your
kids will love it! Invest in a REAL filter if you decide to buy
a small one...the large ones come with a good filter but the small ones come with a joke of a filter, spare yourself hours of
cleaning by buying a good filter. Your time in the pool is better spent playing than cleaning, YUK! We loved this pool so much we have had three ... Each one a little bigger than the last; wonder if they'll come out with a six foot one>>> YIKES!

5GREAT POOL ~ EXCELLENT VALUE
By A Customer
Calling it an "inflatable" pool undermines the actual product.
Very strong construction and the pump is impressive as well. Intex stresses placing the pool on a LEVEL surface and that can't be stressed enough. That's where you'll spend most of your set up time. Things went quickly after that. A compressor is best to inflate unless you want to pump for a while. Spread the bottom out while putting top ring and sides walls into the center. There was very little adjusting of the floor while filling by doing this. Screw on a couple of connectors manually and fill! It took about 12 hours with good water pressure to fill to 5600 gallons.
The vacuum included doesn't work well for fine "silt" dirt,(seeped out of the cheesecloth collection bag).
Pump maintanence is super easy. 5-10 minutes depending on how dirty!
This pool is well worth the money. Invest in a better vacuum if you are in a windy/dusty region.

5The 18ft x 48in Pool Is A Nice Sized Pool. Keep It Level!!
By A Customer
I just read through the other reviews on this pool. It seems as if some ran into troubles setting this thing up?? I am a 30yr male and set this pool up by my self in less than 30 minutes. Now that does not include filling with water, which took around 14 hours. The top ring inflated in about 5 minutes using my large air compressor and a blow gun attachment. I have a few wrinkles in the bottom, but my pool is still a near perfect circle. The only thing I did not do was make sure the ground was perfectly level. It looked close enough so I went ahead with the set up.. The pool has been setup for about 3 weeks now, I have topped of the air in the ring just once, but I would recommend that you check this about once a week or so. I lost about 25% of the water in the pool this morning as my chosen site is not perfectly level. The air pressure in the ring had fallen a bit and the water pushed the ring down on the low side, causing a rush of water to flow over the side. The ring lost air pressure the same way a childs large ... bouncy ball does when left in the direct sunlight everyday, not due to any holes in the ring. Now this was my fault for not trying to level the surface before setup.
This product is well built, easy to setup and will provide fun for the whole family for many more years to come. I will get the tiller out and level the site next spring before setup. You could really see how unlevel my site was after the pool was filled with water! The unlevel site actually worked out better for my 3yr old son as I was unable to fill the pool properly. He was able to stand and keep his head above water as I was only able to fill with 37in of water due to unlevel surface. This provided an adequate water level to run the filter as well.
Note from another review that they had rinsed out soiled filters and reused them a second time. I will try that as well with the next filter change. The filters are [money] a pop changed every 2 weeks or less, that adds up over a swimming season.
I am very happy overall with this pool purchase.

18' x 9' x 52" Rectangular Ultra Frame Pool Set (with Filter Pump, Saltwater System, Ladder, Ground Cloth, Cover, Deluxe Maintenance Kit, Volleyball Set and DVD) - Nothing matches an Intex rectangular frame pool. Size, strength, durability and flexibility are all combined into the rectangular pool. Your only decision is 'What Size?' The addition of the saltwater system only increases the pools desirability. There is nothing like swimming in completely fresh, clean, crystal clear water!

4Don't Forget the Salt
By M. Fox
This pool is great! Setup was relatively easy but you do need a helping hand (my 13 y.o. helped me) and there are some things you should be aware of before you purchase it.

1. If you purchase the 18' X 9' X 52" pool with saltwater filter, you'll need 115 pounds of salt which cost me $30.00 at a local pool supply store. I bought 4 bags (each bag weighed 40 pounds) and used slightly less than 3 to start the system. You'll need to add more salt occasionally (30 pounds or so) when the code on the filter tells you to do so.

2. 5-6 feet of free space is required around the perimeter of the pool. (I didn't have this space available and had to change my desired location for the pool.) This is because the U-shaped metal supports, attached to the top rail, lay flat on the ground outwardly during setup. Then you pick the top rail off the ground which makes the U-shaped supports slide into place. This starts holding the pool up and in place. Your helper then attaches the pool liner to the bottom of each support. I hope this makes sense. You definitely need that extra space around the pool!

3. Your area should be very level. Take the time to clear rocks that could puncture the liner and to prep the area well. I think the best place for the pool would be on level cement.

218x9 pool
By Pen Name
I have had it set up for 30 days.
What's Good:
1. Salt water chlorine generating filter system, it works well "so far".
2. Some of the included accessories pole, skimmer, brush, leaf net & vacuum are decent quality & would be a significant additional cost if you had to go to the pool center and pick it all up at one time.
3. Amazon price, with shipping included beat the closest competitor by about 300$ at least at the time of my purchase.
Whats Bad:
1. The Liner seeps at the corner seems. At each corner of the pool several pieces of the liner are seemed or welded together. The leaking seems three of the four have seeped/leaked since I put the pool up. The seems are wet & small puddles and/or wet spots always exist at the corners of the pool
2. The ladder is an accident waiting to happen it is very flimsy. The cost of a quality ladder or set of pool stair should be considered 250-500$ on eBay
3. Volley ball set is poor quality, this is not a big deal to me.
4. I think the description said you need to add some salt for the chlorine generator to work. I was surprised to find out I needed to add 115 pound of salt. It can be purchased at the pool store for 20-30$. Not a big deal just a big surprise.
5. Buttons seem to stick when setting filter hours and the timer is very rudimentary. I have some concern about the button problem as it might indicate that the system is not that robust. Only time will tell for sure.
Conclusion:
I considered sending the pool back due to the liner issue but the pool was set up filled with water & 115 pounds of salt. If the liner fails I guess my only hope is that it does so while it is still under warranty. Again only time will tell. I hope to get several seasons use from this pool.

5Great Value
By Anna M. Rozsa
I like this pool. It was pretty simple to set up except for the top corners. We thought they needed to be tight with the rods but they are just loose in there and flex when the pool water moves. The saltwater system is easy to use. My buttons aren't sticking. I had a hard time finding the right salt and ended up buying 50 little boxes of table salt and that took awhile to dump in. Then, the alarm went off and had a code 92 which means too much salt. So, after going to 5 stores to get enough salt, now I'm draining the pool that I just filled to get rid of the salt. Make sure you go by the 18 foot RECTANGLE pool for the amount of salt to add. Anyway, now it is fine. I love the pump. It keeps the water so clean and comes on automatically everyday to convert the salt to chlorine. also the bug catcher toilet bowl thing is a nice invention. All the bugs just get swirled into their when the filter is running. I also thought it was a great deal to get free shipping. Hope this helps.

4Great pool for a smaller child
By Stuart|Anne
Unlike many pools you see, this one is actually about the size as you'd expect from the box. It has several activities such as the ball ramps, the slide and the rings that seem like they might be fun for a younger child. It is rated 3 years+, but the activities seem like they'd be enjoyed best by someone between 1 and 3.

The little pillows on the larger ring make a squeaking noise when squeezed, which would no doubt bring squeals of giggles from the tots. The most fun part, however is the shower, which when the hose is turned up high whips around and showers everything! This has been found to be hysterical, if best done near a flower bed that needs the water anyway. At lower pressure it showers down one pool or the other, depending on which direction the rainbow arch is drooping.

Unfortunately our boys are a bit out of this age range (3 & 5 now) and while they enjoy it as a pool, its clear the activities are a bit beneath them. It is made of light weight PVC, such as you might expect from a drug store inflatable raft. The larger rings have both large holes for an air pump, as well as smaller ones to be inflated directly by a person. The ramps, rainbow and other accessories are all person inflatable only. The air-pump holes are also not valved, so be quick about getting the caps on! I suspect it will prove not be as durable and easy to use as our previous pool, which was better constructed, though also made by Intex.

In short, a toddler would love this pool, and if it didn't survive more than one season it is probably still a value. For larger kids prone to running jumps onto the tubes, there may be a better choice. At this point I expect to be looking again next year.

3Great Fun with one major flaw
By laura
My two year old loved this, he and three of the neighborhood kids, ranging in age from 2-6 years old had a blast in this pool and put it through the ringer. I am completely satisified with this pools entertainment value but there is a huge catch for the parents... there's no drain for it and it holds about 110 gallons of water! Which means 1) you must keep it covered when not in use, 2) will have to bail out this pool one bucket at a time to clean it!!! And trust me its no small task, I have it down to about a 45 minute process. I also tried using a hose with negative pressure to try and siphon-drain it and it took about three hours to move only a few gallons of it. Seriously unless you want this for infrequent use and you intend to just deflate it every time, don't bother. Its allot of work for something that would have been such an easy fix for the company to install! Just one little drain!

4Great pool!
By J. Erdman
This is a great pool! It has so many activites, my two-year-old would play in it for hours all by herself, and really had a great time when a couple of friends joined her. They loved climbing from the shallow end to the deep end, going down the slide and tossing the balls around. The rainbow always leaned one way or another, which is annoying, and the slide did not line up quite right with the deeper end. But that didn't slow the kids down one bit. It is well worth the money.

Better than easy and simple set!5
We have the 12'X 36", which is almost the same size, and are extremely pleased with it. It is a lot of pool for the money!
The exterior white pipes are a sturdy metal that interlock with each other and slip through a very strong vinyl casing around the top of the heavy vinyl blue pool itself. Since we already had a level spot from previous pools, it took only an hour or so, for my children to assemble it themselves, with their 14 yr. old brother. As many people have stressed on other pool reviews, YOU MUST MUST have a level site and this can take lots of work, so don't expect to just open it and start assembling. Once the pool was filled with water, I was surprised by how much more solid it seemed than our previous Easy set and simple set pools had been. It's like there's some kind of dynamic balance between the metal frame and the heavy vinyl pool wall and all the water. My son insists it is superior to our old pools.
An important note is that this pool is truly 12 feet across the top, unlike the easy and simple set ones that measure 12 feet on the bottom diameter but far less, closer to 9+ feet across the top, and this pool can be filled up to 90% of its sidewall height. Our old easy set pool was supposed to be filled only to 80%, so when you compare this pool with those kind, remember that this one has more usable swimming area and depth.
This kind of pool can not be winterized and left up in climates where the winter temperatures drop below freezing, so keep that in mind. We live in the northeast of the US, so pools are useful at most from approximately Memorial Day to shortly after Labor Day, and we think that inexpensive above ground pools are economical. Also, we have found that the more expensive chemical testing kits, like the ones at Walmart for $12.97, that test for for at least five things, are a good investment, even for small pools. If you don't add stabilizer (cyanuric acid) and keep your ph steady, you will spend too much on chemicals overall. I wasted lots of chlorine over the years before I realized that. Small pools are economical but the chemical maintenance is more challenging than it might seem. I looked into Bacquacil (a non-chlorine sanitizing system, that is not as tricky to test and manage as a chlorine system) and was told by one pool dealer that it might clog up cartridge filters in small pools, but the website for Bacquacil says you can use it with this kind. We are going to try that.
Also, our pool came with a well made ladder, noticeably better quality than our previous pool sets, and had a lightweight pool cover and a small pool skimmer and vacuum. These small vacuums work on whats called a "venturi" effect. Not as efficient as the kind in big pools. Just make sure that you put a big fresh container of water in front of the ladder and make the kids rinse off their feet before going in.
Wrong Order, Right Pool!5
I meant to order another model because we have a limited space for where to put the pool and because I didn't want the metal poles. All that went out the window once it came. The instructions sounded tough to follow, but once we started it was a no brainer! From the time we opened the box to completing the filter connections adding water, it was under 45 minutes. I was concerned it was not going to be sturdy, but after it was together it was solid. It only got better once it was filled with water. We did find that the 12' measurement was not really quite 12'. As I said, since we were limited on space, this was a great thing for us, but for others counting on that 12', maybe not so much. One thing we are finding out though, is that you can't really fill the pool to the level they suggest. We did and after a few antics by our kids, water was coming over the sides. There isn't any "lip" like a regular above ground pool to keep that water in the pool, but really it isn't a huge deal. Overall, a good investment that looks like it will last for quite a while.
Easy to set up and fill.....5
Now we have not physically gone into it yet but we set it up. Our ground is not level so we're off about 2 squares (inside the pool it has small squares all around so you can see how level you are). We use to have a rectangular pool in this same spot and we thought we did a great job leveling it out before this one arrived. But we'll have to try again next year. We don't actually swim or jump around in it. Just 2 adults with our floats so we shouldn't have any problems with it being off level. My only concern with this pool is actually the clips on the legs that hold the poles. We get well over 125 degrees here in the summer (NO KIDDING!) and these have to be my only concern. I am going to contact the company and see if I can just buy extras I have this odd feeling I am going to need them. If the legs go, so does the pool stability I'd think. So I'll let you know how it goes through a summer here and if it can last, it'll last ANYWHERE!

Great Cover5
Fits perfectly, even on different brand pool. The rope is already threaded through the cover so it's easy to pull over and tie tightly. The material has been quite durable so far and the cover is holding up very well overall. Great price too!
Good cover for the price, but could be better3
We used this cover for our pool this summer, and it got the job done but definitely had its drawbacks. Our ground was just SLIGHTLY off level, so the Intex pool itself had a very slight tilt. This was not noticable until we put the cover on. It sagged on one end, and we had trouble getting it to cover the pool evenly. This resulted in one section of the cover floating directly on top of and partially under the level of the water, which then covered the surface in algae. My husband built a framework out of PVC and then tied the cover over it, and that worked perfectly.
My only other complaint was the size of the holes in the cover. The holes were big enough for acorns to drop right in (we had the pool a few feet from an oak tree).
So, for the price it's a decent cover. If you intend to use your pool for more than a season or two, you might consider upgrading, or building a PVC framework for an extra five dollars and a little time.
Fits the octagon undersea pool perfectly!5
We bought this to go with the octagon undersea pool, even though it looks like it is for the easy set pools. It fits perfect.

The first time we put it on, it took three of us because it was so tight. One night and it seemed to loosen up and stretch to just the right size and now we get it on and off easily.

It hasn't ripped and hasn't blown off.

Customer Reviews

Great Pool, but allow more than 15 minutues to set it up.5
I purchased this pool last year for my family. It might only take 15 minutes to set up if you have help...it took more than 15 minutes just to get the ground cloth the way I wanted it. Your ground MUST, MUST, MUST be level. If it's off more than 1 inch you're in trouble. Don't try filling it higher than the instructions say or you'll have one of your children going over the top (which they loved and asked if they could do again, I said no) with 100 gallons of water or so. The instructions say to run the filter for something like 5-6 hours per day. No, you need to run the filter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Forget the little floating Chlorine tablet thing. Go buy the small 1 inch chlorine tablets and fill the center of the filter after it's in the pump container with the tablet. Refill every 2-3 weeks when you change or clean the filter. You can take the filter out and clean it with the hose and/or soap and water/hose instead of putting out $7.00 every 3 weeks for a new filter. I've learned all this by doing it the wrong way and then talking with the pool guys and learning the right way. But after it's all set up and going it's so much fun, even for the adults. You just have to be committed to keeping it going. And you save water by not having to dump it out every few days.
Kids love it...you'll learn to despise it.2
This is not really a swimming pool, but an overgrown splash pool. But, if you have young kids, hot weather, and don't have many, many thousands of dollars laying around to invest in a real swimming pool, It seems like a promisingly cool toy to have; however, with all the maintenance this thing has been, I'm still waiting for the "fun" part to kick in...
Can I give it zero stars for "how much trouble is this toy?"
Mine is the 15' diameter by (nominal) 42" depth, and came in a set with ladder, cover, ground cloth, pump with two filter cartridges, and skimmer/vacuum set.
THE BAD:
WARNING 1: You have read this warning in other reviews, but it cannot be repeated often enough...YOU MUST HAVE FIRM, LEVEL GROUND. We have operated this toy for only two months now, and have had to drain, dig and/or backfill the ground, and refill three times already. With just two or three inches "off level" across the 15' width of the toy, this large "bag of water" slowly, inevitably, "crept" in the direction of the low spot, eventually sagging and spilling over on that side. You can simulate the effect by filling a zip-lock bag with water, carefully setting on a tray, then slowly tilting the tray. Be warned!!!
WARNING 2: The filter pump is a joke. It has NO POWER. You could run it 24/7, but you will STILL be vacuuming 3 TIMES DAILY to pick up the grass, soil and other detritus from the bottom, and skimming CONSTANTLY. When you do vacuum, you will have to stop 5 or 6 times per session to dismantle the hosing and clean out all the gunk from the "pinch points" that seem specifically designed to clog up. Each time you undo the hoses, half the gunk you just vaccumed will spew back into the water. Also, you'd think they could put an extra foot or two on the vacuum hose, so that you could actually REACH the opposite side of the toy (the floor on that side is pretty much permanantly dirty). Finally, you'd better pray you got all the creases and folds out when you set up, or else your vacuuming will be quite frustrating.
WARNING 3: Use a tarp of some kind as a ground cloth, and consider it disposable. We set this up on our lawn...and after only about one week we had to drain and refill (see above). In that short time, the area under the tarp became unspeakably filthy, slimy, smelly...something like sewage sludge. You do NOT want such gunk touching the bottom of the pool itself, nor do you want to try to recycle the tarp. Get a new tarp each time you re-set the pool. Also, use some kind of stakes (like those green ones for landscape fabric) to hold down your tarp...it makes unfurling and spreading out the toy much easier!
WARNING 4: As others have stated, this toy comes with NO chemicals or test kit items. These are, of course, essential. How much would it have cost for them to throw in a few test strips, a rip-top packet of algaecide and a small bag of stabilized chlorine shock, just to get the newbie started?
THE GOOD:
DURABILITY: This toy has already endured three take-down/set-ups, and almost constant use by up to six kids at a time...not to mention two dogs who want to get at that previously mentioned smelly area underneath by pawing at the ground right where it meets the vinyl, AND those same kids using the filled pool as a backstop for hardball pitching practice...without bursting a seam. I am mightily impressed by this, as I frankly didn't expect this contraption to hold water in the first place.
EDUCATIONAL: This toy has really helped boost my childrens' confidence in the water. Heck, they've even had some fun...of course, they don't have to maintain the thing...
IN SUMMARY:
Your kids will love this toy and will love you for buying it. You will love it for the first week or two, but will quickly grow to hate the sight of the thing (unless you really like to do extra, unrewarding work around the house on a daily basis using inadequate tools...but hey, who doesn't!).
Summer fun5
A fun pool and you get what you expect. Not too deep for little kids and deep enough to go under water and swim for bigger kids. However you really MUST put this on flat ground, even 2-3 inches difference in height side to side makes a big difference. I had to empty the pool and level the site after setting it up initially. Also I recommend a floating (constant) chlorine supply to avoid algae, which you can get at any pool store and run the filter more frequently than the instructions say. A little extra maintenance is worth it. My kids 9 and 11 really had fun.
